The handwritten text recognition is amazing by the way. You can export handwritten text to word files, diagrams to PDFs, drawings and sketches to Power Point Files. The best part about the Notes app are the low-latency support that feels like you are writing on a real paper, and the Microsoft Office powerful integration. Screen-off note taking is also an option.

There are different sheet templates (with lines and squares), many different writing styles, you can insert text and images, drawings and even audio files. You either open the Samsung Notes app and do it there or use the S-Pen shortcuts, which does the same. You can add more shortcuts such as Write on Calendar, magnify, Glance, and whatnot, or remove such.Ĭreating a Note is pretty much self-explanatory.

A tap on it will reveals quick actions like Create note, View all notes, Smart Select, Screen write, AR Doodle, PENUP and even Translate. So, playing around the screen with the S-Pen highlights the always-visible S-Pen shortcut.

But because the Galaxy Tab S7 FE has no S-Pen charger, its recognition was probably disabled by Samsung, and it wants you to buy the more expensive S-Pen Pro model if you want Air Gestures.

And since it looks identical and can hold a charge, we can only guess it also features Bluetooth support. The funny thing is that the S-Pen that ships with the Tab S7 FE can be charged on the Tab S7+. This means Air Gestures won't be available with this S-Pen, but you can unlock these if you purchase an S-Pen Pro. This means it doesn't need to be recharged as it lacks a battery (or a capacitor) and Bluetooth support. It seems to be a passive version of the S-Pen that ships with the Galaxy Tab S7+. It has a matte finish and comfortable shape, there is a single button, and, of course, the replaceable pen's tip. The S-Pen that's coming with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is larger than the Note's, looking and feeling more like a real pen. The rest is pretty much lifted from the Galaxy Note series. There is also the low-latency support in selected apps. The first that spring to mind are the new Air Actions. As always, there are a couple of new features that come with every new generation. With the stylus you have do youdisagree. If you are familiar with the S Pen from previous Galaxy Notes, you'd find it easy to use it. Samasungsays this tab 2 is not meant to take notes. Areyou able to readyournotes clearly? I am an educator and would use it in the classroom and staff development. It may be a distraction in your situation The only negative about the JotPro is the tapping noise that is created every tip you touch the screen. When I want to convert hand written notes to text I either use the Samsung Memo, or switch the keyboard to pen and write directly into e-mail or online forms using the JotPro I tried several handwriting apps before I decided on FreeNote.

Samsung is obviously keen to sell The Galaxy Note with the S-pen.Īfter 60 years of writing with a full size pen, scribbling with my finger or a stubby lightweight stylus and only printed letters was just not on. When out on an extended field trip, I use Evernote to compile an electronic site report which I mail back to my Office for typing to be ready when I get back to base. I print the field notes and compile Investigation reports from that. Typically field notes run to 6-10 pages of A4 notes usually with one or two pages with annotated sketches. The Tab is fine for the note taking that I do.
